€1.5 Million in Funding for ELY Centre for Uusimaa to Support SME Internationalization
The ELY Centre for Uusimaa’s project Excel in Export (Vientikunto – Osaamisella maailmalle) has received funding from the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+). The project supports the internationalization of SMEs in the Uusimaa region. Its goal is to strengthen the export skills and know-how of entrepreneurs, management, and key personnel, enabling companies to start exporting, increase export volumes, and accelerate international growth. The project’s total budget is €1.5 million.
Excel in Export training programme consists of three parts, the first of which is a free Export Analysis for companies. The ELY Centre for Uusimaa aims to involve 350 SMEs from the region in this phase.
“We are inviting companies with realistic potential to start exporting within a year. In the initial Export Analysis, we assess the company’s export readiness across different areas and provide prioritized recommendations for improving capabilities and skills,” says Reino Koho, Development Manager at the Uusimaa ELY Centre.
Once companies have completed the Export Analysis and reached a sufficient level of readiness, they may proceed to the paid phases: Export Journey and Export Coaching. These modules are tailored to build the necessary export competence for each company.
The Excel in Export programme is targeted at SME management and key personnel in Uusimaa who see exports as a significant opportunity to grow revenue and find new, more profitable customers in international markets. Startups are also welcome to join.
“Our goal is for up to 100 of the 350 participating companies to carry out their first export project or expand into new markets. Each part of the program independently strengthens the entrepreneur’s export competence and provides a foundation for further development of export operations,” Koho adds.
